SL66 Lens HFT Coating

1960 년대 말까지 모든 카메라 렌즈는 단일 또는 이중 코팅으로 reflections and flare로부터 보호되었습니다. 그 후 새로운 기술 발달로 렌즈 제조업체는 렌즈에 Multi Coating 을 적용했습니다.  Carl Zeiss는이를 Multi Coating T * 버전이라고 불렀습니다.  Zeiss와의 합작 투자에서 Rollei는 자체 버전의 Multi Coating을 개발하고 High Fidelity Transfer를 위해 HFT라고 명명했습니다.

 

1972 년 Rollei는 Carl Zeiss의 라이센스를 받아 렌즈를 자체 생산하기 시작했습니다. 이것은 당시 Zeiss와 Rollei가 인수 한 Rollei 공장 근처에있는 독일 Brunswick의 Voigtländer Optical Works에서 이루어졌습니다. 그 후 독일에서 생산 된 Made by Rollei 렌즈와 싱가포르에서 생산 된 렌즈는 모두 HFT 렌즈였습니다.

 

다중 코팅 렌즈가 렌즈 마운트 전면에 HFT 기호가 있다는 사실을 제외하고는 HFT 렌즈는 황금색과 파란색 (golden and blue glow) 빛을 띠는 단일 또는 이중 코팅 Zeiss 렌즈와 달리 빨간색 또는 짙은 녹색(glow red or dark green)으로 빛나기 때문에 쉽게 식별 할 수 있습니다. 몇몇 Zeiss 렌즈는 렌즈에 HFT 표시가 없이 HFT 코팅으로 판매되었습니다.

 

HFT multi coating 은 작은 밝은 광원이 전면 렌즈 에 닿을 때에 효과가 나타납니다. 이전 렌즈의 경우에는 HFT 버전보다 칙칙한 lens flare 를 더 많이 보여줍니다. Ghost images 도 더 잘 나타납니다.

HFT는 특히 lens shade(Hood)를 사용할 때 80mm에서 1000mm 사이의 렌즈에서는 그렇게 중요하지 않습니다.  80mm 렌즈의 경우 전면이 움푹 들어가고 특히 shade mounted 상태에서 flaring 가능성이 거의 없지만 특정 상황에서 가능합니다.  광각 렌즈의 경우 역광 및 실외에서 촬영할 때 특히 big 40mm lens에서는 HFT가 더 좋습니다.  30mm Fisheye, 40mm Distagon FLE 및 60mm Distagon은 1972 년 이후에 출시 된 디자인이기 때문에 HFT 버전에만 존재합니다. 50mm Distagon의 경우 야외에서 많이 촬영하고 역광인 경우 HFT가 유용합니다.

 

하지만 이중 코팅이 적용된 오리지널 Zeiss 렌즈는 이미 플레어로부터 매우 잘 보호되었으며 일부 전문가에 따르면, HFT 코팅 렌즈는 조금 더 부드러운 이미지를 그린다고 여겨진다. HFT 코팅의 유무 보다는 항상 shade를 마운트 하고, 더 좋은 것은 compendium shade를 사용하는 것입니다.

How do Zeiss T* and Rollei HFT compare?

Since this has recently grown into a frequently asked question we feel it is appropriate to provide an official and unequivocal answer from Carl Zeiss:

HFT, meaning "High Fidelity Transfer", is a multi-layer anti-reflection coating system co-developed by Zeiss and Rollei. This occurred several decades ago at a time when Zeiss T* coating was new on the market and could only be applied at the Zeiss Oberkochen plant to rather small camera lens production batches. Rollei envisaged very large volume production in their then new Singapore plant and therefore encouraged this joint development.

Today the situation is this: HFT has become a well established trademark for Rollei's proprietary multi-layer anti-reflection coating. The optical performance of this Zeiss/Rollei co-development is so close to the performance of the original Zeiss T* that one can hardly detect any difference in all practical picture taking.

The Planar®, Distagon®, Sonnar® lenses that Rollei produces under license from Carl Zeiss are all HFT coated by Rollei. All the lenses that Carl Zeiss produces for Rollei at the Zeiss Oberkochen plant are actually Zeiss T*. coated. However, the designation on these lenses is "HFT" in the interest of remaining fully consistent throughout the Rollei product range.
